One day in the early 1940's, a thin and gangly man named Steve Rogers volunteered for a top secret United States Government project, entitled "Operation: Rebirth." Steve was injected with chemicals termed the_ "Super-Soldier Serum," increasing his strength, senses, and agility. With his newfound abilities, Steve was trained in all forms of military combat and tactics, and outfitted in the colors of the American flag. Now he fights evil as Captain America.
During his training, Captain America was equipped with a custom-made Vibranium shield, a concave disk approximately 2.5 feet in diameter. Captain America became adept at using the shield not just for defense, but also as a projectile weapon. The shield's exceptional aerodynamic properties enable it to slice through the air with minimal wind resistance. The disk's unparalleled overall durability, coupled with a natural concentric stiffness, allows it to rebound off solid objects with minimal loss of angular momentum.
