"I can't get involved. It's not that I like the Empire, I hate it, but there's nothing I can do about it right now." Luke Skywalker, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope
Or so Luke Skywalker thought, but a chance encounter on Tatooine with exiled former Jedi Knight Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi changed his mind forever.
Seduced by tales of the Jedi Knight father he never knew, and a magnificent Republic before the dark times of the Empire, Luke is reluctantly recruited to the cause of freedom. Armed only with his courage and his father's lightsaber, he embarks on an adventure that takes him across the far, flung reaches of space, propelling him into the very heart of a conflict where the fate of the entire galaxy rests in his hands.
In Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Luke's lightsaber prop was created from an antique flashgun. Seven T-shaped grips were added to the lower circumference and a 1970's calculator display component topped off the "control box." A simple picture hanger D-ring riveted to the bottom allowed the weapon to be worn on a belt loop. So was born the iconic Skywalker lightsaber.
As is usual on movies, several versions of this prop were built. Having previously released in our Elite Edition series a version of this weapon as seen in post-production publicity photographs featuring the "control box" mounted opposite to how it appeared in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Master Replicas are proud to present the screen used version to complete your collection.
Crafted from machined and extruded aluminum and brass, with co-molded injection grips and injection molded plastic parts, your replica lightsaber is copied from a direct study of an original flashgun and original sourced parts used on the filming prop.
In a 2005 auction an original Luke Skywalker ANH Lightsaber prop sold for over $200,000.
We hope you enjoy your replica of such a famous and expensive movie prop for years to come.
